Xtend Barre Alexandria is found in gorgeous Alexandria across from the Australian Technology Park. Owner Melanie Firbank comes from a background of professional dance and musical theatre, with an extra love for all things circus. At XBA our aim is to provide an environment where every client feels welcome and supported to reach their goals, while having the greatest experience with our instructors and exciting fitness classes.
Here’s some handy advice for your first trip to see us at Xtend Barre:
Arrive 20 minutes early.
Grip socks are required. You can bring your own or we have some for purchase.
Bring a towel and water bottle.
We have lockers, changing rooms, and restrooms available for your use.
Entry into class is not permitted 5 minutes after the start of class.
Let your instructor know if you have any injuries or are pregnant. They are happy to help with
modifications throughout class.
If you need to change your class, be sure to do so at least within the cancellation period.
Xtend Barre Alexandria offers something on the timetable for everyone and every body, you can join multi–level, safe, fun and extremely effective fitness classes under the eyes of expert trainers who work with you on your individual goals.
Programs include Xtend Barre, Xtend Sweat, Xtend Suspend, Xtend Fitball, Xtend Babies on Board and Xtend Pilates.
Melanie’s experience is as a dancer and actress, having completed professional training both as a contemporary dancer at NZSD in Wellington and her Bachelor of Performing Arts in Acting at the prestigious Toi Whakaari NZ Drama School.
Melanie has worked in theatre, musical theatre and film locally and internationally across New Zealand, London, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Upon returning home to Sydney and taking Xtend Barre classes herself, Melanie knew that this was the next step in her career and completed her training the following year. Being completely in love with the Xtend Barre workout Melanie’s favourite thing about Xtend Barre is that it offers the ability to strengthen and sculpt your body, combining the musicality and creativity of dance in a fun and energetic setting that is open and supportive of every client.
Most importantly Melanie is the proud owner of Xtend Barre Alexandria and hopes to bring her love and passion of Xtend Barre to each of her classes.
When not in the studio, Melanie can be found hanging upside on an aerial hoop or aerial silks.
Ashleigh’s passion for dance and exercise led her to fall in love with Xtend Barre. After traveling the world performing for Princess and Norwegian Cruise Lines she is thrilled to say goodbye to her sea legs and teach the class she loves to take. She looks forward to bringing her technical jazz experience into the studio and can always promise a laugh or two as she works you out! Ashleigh’s dance training has led her to perform in two national tours with recording artist ‘Kanye West’ as well as a plethora of children’s shows in multiple countries including India and The Philippines. Ashleigh’s favorite part of instructing is nurturing her clients and watching their confidence and technique grow with each class. She looks forward to seeing you in the studio and promises to deliver the total body work out Xtend Barre is famous for!
Elaine began dancing at age three in her hometown of Portsmouth in the UK, appearing in numerous stage and TV productions both in the UK and Europe. In 1999, she settled in Sydney with her husband and discovered AND fell in love with the Xtend Barre Workout! In 2012 she became a certified Pilates Instructor and continued on with her Xtend Barre qualifications.
Phoebe is a professional dancer, dance teacher and Xtend Barre fanatic from Auckland, New Zealand. In Auckland she completed her degree in Communications Studies at AUT, worked for leading dance companies such as Diamond Entertainment and Momentum Productions, performed with the Skycity Cheerteam and instructed at Xtend Barre Ponsonby and Studio 3. Phoebe is an experienced teacher and instructor and is passionate about Xtend Barre’s workout and the positive results it has had in not just her own life but also her clients.

Ivy has an extensive background in the performing arts. A graduate from Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and Brent Street Studios, her major theatrical credits include: Disney’s The Lion King and Cameron Mackintosh’s Miss Saigon. She also starred as Danielle Clarks in the film, ‘Razzle Dazzle, A Journey Into Dance’. She thinks her epithet should read: perennial traveler, musical theatre fanatic and Xtend Barre enthusiast. Ivy can’t wait to meet you at the barre!
Aly started her ballet training at the age of two, and has been at the barre ever since. Now, with over fourteen years experience as a professional choreographer, movement coach, and dancer, it has all steered her towards the wonderful world of Xtend Barre.
A graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts and the New Zealand School of Dance, Aly received her Bachelor of Dance and National Diploma in Dance respectively. She has since choreographed dance performances for stage productions, television commercials, and music videos, as well as touring solo works in Eastern Europe.
As an instructor, Aly loves watching her clients grow into healthier, stronger and more confident versions of themselves with every class. She looks forward to meeting you at the Barre!
Amalie was born in Denmark, Copenhagen. When she was 18 she moved to Germany to attend the Iwanson International Contemporary Dance School. After successfully completing the 3-year professional dance training Amalie went on to develop her dance and Pilates knowledge in New York at the Broadway Dance Centre. Amalie returned to Germany and completed her BASI Pilates Certificate for Mat and Equipment. Amalie worked as a teacher and professional dancer in Europe until she moved to Sydney in August 2017. Her passion for movement, Pilates and dance led her to teach Xtend Barre which for her is the perfect combination of movement, music, fun and a great way to strengthen and lengthen the body. Her classes are fun, engaging and challenging with a positive energy. Amalie is excited to share her passion for movement with you.
Alice Bebe Scott
Alice’s passion is to educate and empower people to achieve a healthier lifestyle by igniting a love of exercise and nutrition. Holding a Bachelor of Health Science degree, majoring in Naturopathy from the University of Western Sydney, Alice has an extensive knowledge of Anatomy, functional movement of the body, as well as the knowledge of Herbal Medicine and Nutrition.
Alice is also a qualified Pilates and Xtend Barre instructor. Her passion for teaching is contagious, aiming to provide a challenging yet enjoyable workout for all clients from varying fitness levels and ages. Alice’s goal as an instructor is to provide her clients with a balanced, functional and safe workout that improves strength, posture, energy, and encourages a healthier lifestyle for all participants. She is continually inspired by her clients stories of success and achievements.
Kate began dancing at the age of 2 and studied Ballet (RAD), Jazz (ADA) and Tap (ADA). Kate competed in many national competitions and performed overseas in Hawaii and at Disney World, Florida. Fitness is an important part of Kate’s life and when introduced to Xtend Barre on a friends recommendation she was immediately hooked. Kate believes there is no other workout that strengthens, lengthens and sculpts the body like Xtend Barre, making it an essential part of Kate’s workout schedule. Kate can’t wait to share her love of Xtend Barre with her clients and to help them achieve their fitness goals. Kate is also completing her PhD on the “Epigenetics of Cancer” at The Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
Tamara has a Degree in Nutrition and completed her Yoga Teacher Training in early 2016. Currently teaching Yoga, mindfulness and life skills to primary school children full-time, Tamara also has her own business of creating deliciously healthy desserts and treats and cake decorating. Health and fitness has been Tamara’s passion for a long time having always been very active and loving the outdoors. Tamara is so looking forward to teaching, learning and growing with the beautiful clients at XBA.
